New Research Ideas for the Climate,
Funding Line “Protecting Biodiversity and the Climate Through Organic Farming”
The ongoing loss of biodiversity and the impacts of climate change pose major challenges for agriculture and food systems. The agricultural sector, in particular, faces the task of producing food sustainably while simultaneously protecting natural resources. Organic farming plays a key role in this context, as it offers the potential to effectively combine climate and biodiversity protection.
At the same time, the transformation of agriculture requires new approaches that take ecological, economic, and social requirements into account in equal measure. Innovative technologies, alternative farming practices, and systemic solutions can help reduce emissions, close material cycles, and strengthen the resilience of agricultural systems. A central question addressed by this funding program is how these approaches can be effectively implemented and integrated into existing structures.
The research program “New Research Ideas for the Climate” therefore aims to develop sustainable solutions in collaboration with stakeholders from academia and the professional world. Through interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research, the program seeks to generate new impetus for climate- and biodiversity-friendly agriculture and make concrete contributions to the sustainable transformation of the food system.
